What is Pussy the Musical about?
Pussy the Musical follows the character Lettie from birth through menopause in a bold, realistic, irreverent journey exploring the female body, sexuality, and identity. Guided by personified forces like Pussy, Clitoris, Flo (the period), and Menopause and challenged by the ever-present voice of the Patriarchy, Lettie navigates key milestones including puberty, sexual awakening, relationships, motherhood, and aging.
As Lettie’s life unfolds alongside her best friend Stella, she begins to question the cultural narratives that have shaped her relationship to her body. A transformative trip to the Congo, studying matriarchal bonobos with Stella and an African woman, Mariama, ultimately leads to Lettie's reclamation of her body as a source of pleasure and power rather than shame. She emerges with a renewed sense of purpose: to challenge harmful systems and help others embrace their own embodied truth.
